I love Cavaliers, and I'm devoted to their advancement and well-being. I've been focused exclusively on Cavaliers as a serious hobby exhibitor since 1998. After many years in New England my family and I now live in Texas, where I continue to be active in several local, regional and national Cavalier clubs. All dogs are wonderful, but I've found that Cavaliers are truly special and live up to their very old and well-earned nickname of "comforter spaniels." I get many inquiries about puppies. Many are backyard breeders (or worse) and they crank out litters purely for profit without any knowledge or concern for health issues in the breed, nor do they have any idea of what constitutes a quality animal worthy of being bred in the first place. It's "breeders" like these that give everyone a bad name. This site is meant to help people who are interested in buying, re-homing or rescuing a Cavalier learn how to find one via reputable, ethical sources. This is a living creature you're getting, not a TV--an impulsive purchase can truly cost you, literally and figuratively. Ask questions. Ask your vet. Get references. Check out sources via our national and regional Cavalier clubs--and if someone does not belong to the ACKCSC or the CKCSC, where members agree to abide by Codes of Ethics and where current advances in Cavalier-specific health studies, information, and testing are supported and encouraged, I'd definitely wonder why.
